Marshmallow Root
Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis) has long moved between nourishment and healing. In ancient Egypt, her root was transformed with honey into a confection reserved for gods and royalty, a sweetness born from earth and ritual. Across traditions, she soothed the throat, calmed the stomach, and softened the body through her mucilaginous nature. Her chemistry is gentle, her action protective, coating and calming rather than activating. In her, identity is softening: a self that buffers, protects, and restores without force.
